Leopold Kroner, once a respected figure at Colby Enterprises, walks free after spending five years behind bars for embezzling company funds. Shortly after his release, Andrew Colby, anxious about his safety and alleging that Kroner has issued threats against him, hires attorney Bob Regan to act as a covert protector. Fatefully, Kroner confronts Colby in his quarters armed with a firearm, leading to Regan shooting him in self-defense.
